Project team
Architect: Ben Walker Architects
Tucked into Canberra’s leafy south, Narrabundah House is a warm, modern home that responds to its sloping block and established garden setting. Designed by Ben Walker Architects, the house is carefully composed around outdoor living spaces, with generous glazing that frames views and brings in light.
Powerhaus Engineering supported the project’s NatHERS energy rating, working closely with the architect to balance performance and aesthetics. With thoughtful orientation, slab insulation, and effective cross-ventilation, the design achieves excellent thermal performance without compromising on material richness or spatial generosity.
Natural materials and a strong connection to landscape define the home’s character, while passive design principles make it comfortable and efficient year-round.
Recognition: Narrabundah House received a Commendation in the Residential Architecture – Houses (New) category at the 2021 Australian Institute of Architects ACT Chapter Awards
